The SSP was applied at an underground mine where the specific survey site was prepared beforehand. A diagonal borehole was drilled into the handing wall providing a specific target gradually moving deeper into the rock. The SSP was deployed in minutes and results where available in real time.
The borehole was identified as a diagonal structure first identified at a depth of 0.3m and tracked up to a depth of 4.5m across a survey line spanning 8 meters. The leader seam is first identified at a depth of 1m and tracked untill it exits the handing wall.
Horizontal structures between 4.5m and 6m was also identified and subsequently classified as 3 thin layers of ore commonly reffered to as “triplets”.
AT A GLANCE
Rock Type:
Hard rock, platinum, 1.2 km below surface.
Challenge:
Identify diagonal borehole in hanging wall.
Results:
Borehole identified at depths between 0.3m and 4.5m. Thin layers of ore identified at 6m.
ABOUT THE SUB SURFACE PROFILER
Designed specifically for the challenges faced by underground mining operations globally, the SSP improves dynamic decision making through the precise management of Fall of Ground risks, as well as the optimal use of support mechanisms in an environment where every second counts.
Its light-weight and patented ergonomic design allows for one handed operation by one person in much the same way as a paint roller. Data collected is wirelessly transmitted and processed in real time, giving instant feedback on rock structures while scanning. This is Ground Penetrating Radar. Reimagined.
ABOUT REUTECH MINING
Our goal is to make your operation as safe and productive as possible. So we design innovative radar products that solve complex problems in simple ways. This passion drives our desire to think outside of the box; to rethink old problems and reimagine new solutions. It has led us to the SSP, a product that improves underground mining productivity and safety in a revolutionary simple way.
